Dr. David Kopenhaver.
This endowed scholarship fund was established in 2009 by Dr. Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver, Dean Emeritus and Professor in the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts, as a memorial to her husband, Dr. David A. Kopenhaver, an accomplished university professor, psychologist, television host, producer, and author.
Dr. David A. Kopenhaver was a strong advocate of achieving one’s educational goals. He was a prime example as an undergraduate at the University of Miami, where he was the president of both the freshman class and the student body government. Dr. Kopenhaver was an involved student and learner through all of his career. His graduate educational credentials included New York University, Harvard University, and Rutgers University.
He was also a creative individual, excelling as a writer as the author of the Lilliland Stories (at lilliland.net), more than 700 short stories and morality tales set in a fictional European kingdom named for his wife.
As a college professor, Dr. Kopenhaver encouraged his students to pursue all the education possible to become successful in their careers and to achieve their dreams. This scholarship is designed to help students do just that.
