City of Homestead Employee Dependent Scholarship

The City of Homestead is proud to offer a scholarship for dependents of City of Homestead employees.

Eligibility Requirements

• Enrolled at FIU as a degree seeking undergraduate student.
• Florida Resident
• 2.0 GPA
• Verified dependent of a City of Homestead Employee

Award

• The Scholarship program will cover up to six (6) Undergraduate credit hours per semester with a maximum of eighteen Undergraduate credits per year. There is no minimum of credits that must be completed per year.
• Textbook allowance of $50.00 per class each semester after classes commence.
• The Scholarship is valid for a maximum of 60 Undergraduate Credit Hours to be completed within five consecutive years as long as renewal requirements are met.
• Candidates cannot receive benefits from this program if they are receiving any other Scholarship or Grant funding which will cover the applied for credits.

Renewal Requirements

• If student does not attend classes for two continuous semesters within a 12 month period, they will be disqualified from the program.
• In order to remain “active” within the program, must maintain an overall G.P.A. of 2.0 or above. If overall G.P.A. falls under the 2.0 requirement, they will be placed on probation and will be required to pay for their own classes until G.P.A. is brought back up to the required 2.0. If G.P.A. is not brought back up to the requirement within the following two semesters, they will be disqualified from the Scholarship Program and will not be able to reapply.
• If recipients receive a grade of “F” or if they withdraw "W’ from a class already paid by the Scholarship Fund, they will not be able to apply for scholarship for that class a second time.
