Miguel B. Fernandez Family Foundation Civic Leadership Scholarship
The Miguel B. Fernandez Family Foundation Civic Leadership Endowment Fund Scholarship supports FIU students affiliated with the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership. This scholarship aims to empower students demonstrating academic merit, financial need, and a commitment to civic engagement and leadership development.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
1. Be enrolled at or accepted for admission to Florida International University.
2. Demonstrate academic merit and/or financial need.
3. Be affiliated with the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership through one or more of the following:
– Ferre Fellowship
– Undergraduate or Graduate Certificate in Civic Leadership
– Other qualifying capacities or programs affiliated with the Institute
4. Preference will be given to students meeting all criteria below (First Generation Matching Grant Program guidelines):
– First in their family to attain a college degree (siblings may also be pursuing degrees)
– Residents of the state of Florida
– Degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
– Demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA eligibility for a Pell Grant\
– Students must be aid eligible

• Personal statement (max 500 words) detailing civic leadership experience, goals, and how the scholarship will support academic and professional aspirations
• Resume or CV
• Proof of Institute affiliation (letter of participation or program acceptance
• FAFSA on file with Pell Grant eligibility
